Update:

Thank you all who have donated! Rosh Hashanah celebrations were uplifting and heartwarming. So nice to see everyone especially the youngsters, the dinner, the food, the community, the discussions, the exploring, the heartfelt prayers, singing, reflections and talks all made for a very uplifting experience!

After services we visited the hospital, some medical offices, the parks, the Plaza, some homes, walked the streets to share the shofar sounding to to the community at large. Of course a trip to Trader Jews to catch some yidden who didn't make it services.

One very moving moment was when we met "Hannah" on a park bench with her dog. She was visibly moved when we asked if she was Jewish and would like to hear the Shofar. She blurted out "I can't believe I'm meeting you here today. I've been having suicidal thoughts, and I'm very down because of my housing situation. I feel very lonely. I'm so glad you reached out."

After sounding the shofar, we sat and we chatted. A nice Jewish woman from Brooklyn, she has some health issues, and housing has become prohibitive in Santa Fe. We spoke some more until the sun started to set on the first day of the year. She was visibly moved and promised to stay in touch.

(If you have a casita or apartment for rent, please get in touch with us to see if it can work)

Thank you for helping Hannah and many other Jews on Rosh Hashanah. We have many more people to reach out to over the next holidays, Yom Kippur, Sukkot and Simchat Torah!

Susan is in the hospital can you help?

The other day while visiting the hospital I met "Susan." She cried to me that she didn't imagine she would be spending Rosh Hashanah in the hospital.

She's visiting from New York and ended it up stuck in the hospital with heart issues.

I assured her that we would walk to the hospital on the holiday  and sound the shofar so she can hear it.

There are many Jews who may not be in synagogue for the holiday for whatever reason, but their soul yearns to connect on this holy day.

You can help bring the holiday spirit to them with Chabad's holiday outreach efforts.

After services our volunteers walk the streets of Santa Fe with shofar and apples to engage Jews who may have forgotten about Rosh Hashanah. It's so heartwarming to watch how they light up when they hear the piercing shofar sounds on the Plaza, in the Hospital or at their doorstep.

The same with the Lulav blessings and Sukkah mobile on sukkot.

Of course, this is in addition to all the services, celebrations, meals, song and dance provided in the synagogue itself.

Please consider a $180 or any amount today to help Susan and others in need celebrate our beautiful heritage!

Be sure to join us for all the celebrations Sept. 25-Oct. 18 www.SantaFeJCC.com/holidays22
