About Bruce Barrett

Bruce Barrett is Aipac’s Regional Director for the Mountain West, a half million square mile region in the Inland West. It’s a land of sage brush, stunning mountains, wildlife, rivers, cattle ranches and wheat farms. And it is also the home to some of America’s powerful members of the Congress of the United States. In this region Bruce Barrett carries on unique work supporting a strong US-Israel relationship, doing the work of AIPAC.

Bruce will present his story, and talk about his work. From speaking at a Baptist church on an Indian Reservation, to countering anti-Israel propoganda from White Supremacists and those with isolationist tendancies, from programming for Mormon audiences, to meeting tiny Jewish communities in isolated towns, Bruce has met many fascinating challenges. His territory includes
Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, plus North and South Dakota .

Bruce is a diverse individual who has hosted a national outdoor program on ESPN’s fly fishing block. He plays in a Country Western Band in his spare time. His presentations blend humor, interesting stories, and up to date information about Aipac’s work, challenges and future. Bruce is also a filmmaker and a key player in Aipac film production, travelling to Israel frequently and filming in the US, Europe, and the Middle East.

Bruce lives in Missoula, Montana. He is married to Adair Kanter and they have a daughter Ariel Barrett who attends BigSky High School in Missoula, Montana.

Weekly Parshah

Parshat Naso

Completing the headcount of the Children of Israel taken in the Sinai Desert, a total of 8,580 Levite men between the ages of 30 and 50 are counted in a tally of those who will be doing the actual work of transporting the Tabernacle.

G‑d communicates to Moses the law of the sotah, the wayward wife suspected of unfaithfulness to her husband. Also given is the law of the nazir, who forswears wine, lets his or her hair grow long, and is forbidden to become contaminated through contact with a dead body. Aaron and his descendants, the kohanim, are instructed on how to bless the people of Israel.

The leaders of the twelve tribes of Israel each bring their offerings for the inauguration of the altar. Although their gifts are identical, each is brought on a different day and is individually described by the Torah.

The Hiding Wife
It is a “descent for the sake of ascent,” a crisis in the marriage which ultimately deepens and enhances it by unearthing deep wells of loyalty and commitment which remain untapped in an unchallenged relationship.
Your Questions
On Which Day of the Week Was the Torah Given?
It is only appropriate that the Torah, which brings peace and harmony to its adherents—and by extension, to the entire world—was given on the Day of Rest.

Alone with G‑d
The ironic thing about my not fitting in is that I have an eclectic group of friends from all over the world who, even though they do fit in somewhere, also find themselves not really fitting in—and in one way or another, we all fit together.
