  • Minister of Diaspora Affairs, Omer Yankelevich, is a lawyer, social activist, Member of Knesset and the first Chareidi woman to serve as a Minister in an Israeli Government. She holds a BA and MA in law; is a certified teacher and mediator, and as a young woman studied at Gateshead Seminary in England.

    After receiving her law degree, Minister Yankelevitch worked as a legal assistant to a judge in the Jerusalem District Court for 13 years. In recent years, she founded the Just Begun Foundation, a social services organization, where she initiated groundbreaking projects to promote equal opportunities for minority groups living in Israel.

    In her youth, she moved with her parents to the former Soviet Union where she taught Hebrew. Throughout her lifetime, Minister Yankelevitch has dedicated her heart, soul, and a profound commitment to issues related to world Jewry.
